Friday was devoted to Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on Migration in West Africa....not only African migration to Europe and beyond, but migration within Africa itself---from rural to urban etc. We watched a film by Moussa Toure, a prominent and respected Senegalese modern filmmaker---called "La Pirogue". It dealt with a group of people trying to reach Spain on a fishing boat----from Senegal and Guinea. hard to watch, tragic, mesmerizing. Beautifully made.
