Tuesday is my last full day in Senegal. I go out to try to find some silver jewelry for my wife as well as some Malian textiles----hand woven, hand died fabric. I had brought some good ground coffee from the states to give as gifts to my friends in ST. Louis--the Sow family----but due to the busy schedule of our seminar, I never got to see them. I gave some to my new Nigerian publisher friend, Suleiman last week but I still had two French and Italian roast bags. Before going out I had an idea----the Baye Fall love coffee---they are the interesting Mouride sect who don't pray or fast but feed people and build stuff. I put my coffee in my bag and go out to look for Baye Fall. Within 5 minutes I meet a guy give him my gift---easily identifiable by his dreads and clothing. He's pretty happy. Photo to follow perhaps.
